Second Inlay of eggs successfully completed
The second batch of 350,000 Atlantic salmon eggs from Benchmark Genetics arrived our RAS farm on Friday, June 10th, and were successfully placed in our hatchery. In spite of exiting challenges in logistics the eggs arrived on time in Pudong, the customs clearance and release of the eggs were done in less than 9 hours upon landing, and were transported in our new truck made specifically for transport of eggs. We are very grateful for the support given by all parties involved to secure such fast track clearance, allowing the eggs to be safely placed in the hatchery some 15 hours after arrival at Shanghai airport.
The first inlay of 350,000 eggs were done in March 9th, and moved to RAS 01 and first feed on May 17th. They continue to grow actually ahead of schedule, and with a mortality rate lower than expected. This first batch will be moved to RAS 02 late July, just in time for batch to being moved into RAS 01 and start feeding. We plan to receive batch 3, and another 350,000 eggs in September.
